After about a year since the government launched e-VoA (10 November 2022), foreign nationals are finding it easier to visit Bali without having to endure a lengthy process or queue.
Electronic Visa on Arrival, also known as Visa On Arrival Online Bali, is one of the best visa choices for travelers looking to spend a month exploring the island of the Gods. With an easy and quick application process, this sort of visa provides benefits not seen in other types of visas.
In this article, we will go over in detail the online visa on arrival in Bali and things you should know before purchasing one.
Who’s it for?
An online visa on arrival is one of the easiest visas to obtain because the process is short and simple. However, the important question to ask is can all travelers get an online visa on arrival in Bali?
Not all foreign nationals are eligible for this type of visa. After the government issued Surat Edaran No. IMI-0133.GR.01.01 in 2023, only 92 countries could apply for visas on arrival online. You can check the list at the following link (pages five and six).
Why the electronic version over the traditional one?
In essence, an electronic visa is the same as its counterpart, a traditional visa. The biggest distinction is in the application process, which can be completed online. You will gain multiple benefits as a result of this one important change:
- You can purchase a 30 day visa for Bali at the comfort of your own home. You won’t have to wait in line at the Visa On Arrival counter at the airport, and you may begin enjoying your visit as soon as you arrive.
- The online application process is quick. After you pay, the immigration officer will review your information, and if everything is in order, you will receive your visa by email.
Requirements
There are two documents needed for a Bali visa on-arrival application:
- A legal and valid passport for at least six months.
- A return ticket or onward ticket to continue your journey to another country.
Another aspect that travelers frequently overlook is the type of passport required throughout the application process. The only type of passport accepted is an official passport from the country in question, not any of the following:
- Laissez Passer;
- Titre de voyage (Travel Document issued to refugee);
- Travel Document;
- Document of Identity;
- Certificate of Identity;
- Alien Passport (Stateless Passport);
- Alien Travel Document;
- Emergency Travel Document;
- Emergency Passport; or
- Temporary Passport.
Procedure
Bali visa on arrival application involves several steps you need to follow:
- Open the official Molina page at molina.imigrasi.go.id. Use only the official page and avoid any other links as they are most likely a scam. Be cautious!
- Create an account by clicking on the Register. If you already have an account, log in with your username and password.
- Fill out your personal information and then click Submit.
- Go back to the Home page and click Apply to apply for an e-VoA for Bali.
- Complete your visa application form, then click Submit.
- Proceed with the payment. The cost can be paid with Visa, Mastercard, or JCB.
- Your application will be handled once payment is received. When your e-VoA is complete, you will be notified via email.
- You can then show your soft copy or printed visa to the officers at the Immigration checkpoint.
Restriction
While it has many benefits and advantages, there are a few restrictions to be aware of when using an Evoa for Bali.
First is the purpose of the visit. Outside of local employment, Visa On Arrival is limited to tourism, government visits, commercial negotiations, and travel.
Online VoA in Bali is also single entry only. This means that if you exit the Indonesian border, your visa on arrival will instantly expire.
Extension
With a Visa on Arrival, you can stay in the country for 30 days, starting from the moment you step foot in Bali. You can extend your visa on arrival once for an additional 30 days.
You should do this extension one or two weeks before the visa expires because the extension process takes quite a long time.
A Bali visa extension can also come with several issues you definitely want to avoid. The most typical struggle people face is losing visa receipts. While you’re extending your visa, you’re required to hand over your passport to immigration. In return, they’ll give you a receipt as a temporary identification while your visa is being extended.
By losing the receipt, your visa extension is canceled and you’ll be claimed overstay in the process. To avoid this, you can count on a visa agent like Kamala Visa Bali.
