In essence, a visa run means leaving Bali (and Indonesia entirely), so that you can reset your existing visa. Some visas require you to leave the country to reapply. Others might expire entirely and cannot be renewed, until you apply from another country. That’s called an offshore visa, and can apply to B211 single-entry visas, as well as KITAS visas in certain instances.

Why do I need a Bali visa run?
Extending a visa can be a time-consuming and expensive process in some cases. It might involve multiple trips to imigrasi, piles of paperwork, and expensive fees. While we always make this process easier for our clients, many prefer to do a visa run… and some don’t have a choice!
Certain visas cannot be renewed. For example, once you have already extended your Visa On Arrival for the additional 30 days, you must leave the country to renew it, or to start a different kind of visa. The same goes for both single-entry B211 visas. This means that a visa run is necessary to restart your Bali stay.
All you need to do is book an international flight out of Bali or another Indonesian airport. You will need to fly out of Indonesia, pass through immigration in the other country, so that you step foot on their soil. Then, you can board your return flight to Bali. Once you arrive, your new visa, which we will have helped you apply for, can activate.
If you’re sticking to Visa on Arrival, you will be able to start a new 30-day VOA as soon as you arrive at Ngurah Rai airport.

The cheapest Bali visa run can vary, depending on the price of flight tickets. However, it’s important to keep in mind that there may be additional costs once you arrive in your chosen destination. Many people choose to stay the night in another country, creating a more relaxed visa run experience. But a night in Singapore, for example, will generally cost you a lot more than a night in Kuala Lumpur. The tricky thing about that is flights to Singapore are generally some of the cheapest from Bali!
